Why does a feeding bed bug not wake up the host it is feeding on?
Bed bugs feed by inserting a hollow, beak-like tube into their host called a "proboscis". The tube injects the bed bug's saliva, which contains "anesthetics" to numb the feeding area.

Through a system of tubes called tracheae, which are attached to the insect's spiracles..."Spiracles". Small openings on the sides of the cockroaches body.

Fact..."TRUE"
A cockroach body can survive up to a week without a head. This is because a roach breathes through small holes (spiracles) in its body segments and has an open circulatory system independent of the mouth and windpipe.... Since it doesn't need a head to breath, it can survive without one for a short time. However, without a way to drink water, the roach eventually dies of dehydration!

During that time bed bugs were commonly cited as a valuable ingredient in potions against snakebites, ear infections and other ailments. Evidently, no-one lived to verify the success of these treatments...Scientist still have not found any use for these irritating insects.
