What is SAMR.
This generic term is used to describe school districts use to manage student information.
What is a Student Information System or SIS.
These first started showing up in classrooms back in 1991 and helped teachers project content, and allowed students to interact it with. Many school districts now have them in every classroom.
What are SMART boards.
"Digital Literacy" is a part of a larger K-8 curriculum category, often rolled into Lanuage Arts, known as this.
What is Media Literacy.
This three letter acronym refers to a tool that allows for organizations to track contacts and opportunities, improve reporting and forecasting, and enhance planning and strategy enterprise wide. At Nelson, we call it Magellan.
What is a CRM.
In the SAMR model, technology use is categorized as a Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, or Redefinition. The first two (S and A) are considered enhancements to existing tools while the last two (M and R) describe the transformation to significantly new learning tasks that were “previously inconceivable.” As educators and schools look for digital learning resources, the SAMR Model is a useful tool for helping identify technologies that will support the learning of all students in new, innovative ways.
Teachers using myON with their students to promote additional at home independent reading is an example of this SAMR stage.
What is Substitution.
This networking technology connects devices such as desktops and laptops, video game consoles, smartphones and tablets, smart TVs, digital audio players, printers and other things to each other, and to the internet.
What is Wifi.
SMART boards led the way for more further ed tech integration and the projection of context in classrooms. One such device has had a negative impact on class set sales because of how some teachers use it.
What are document cameras.
Today's students live in an interactive, “on demand” digital culture where they are used to accessing media whenever and wherever they want. Instant-messaging, photo sharing, texting, social networking, video-streaming and mobile Internet use are all examples where youth have led the charge in new ways of engaging online. This term describes students who have grown up digital.
What are Digital Natives.

What is Connect.
Digital manipulatives in DreamBox, such as the virtual clock help differentiate and adapt for each student while he or she is learning and exploring. Some lessons using this digital manip require students to solve problems in which one hand on the clock is broken, while others ask students to set the time using a limited number of adjustments is an example of this SAMR stage.
What is Redefinition.
This is the capacity of a wired or wireless network communications link to transmit the maximum amount of data from one point to another in a given amount of time -- usually one second. Synonymous with capacity, it is used to describe the data transfer rate. It is not however a measure of network speed -- a common misconception.
What is bandwidth.
According to a December 2017 survey of teachers, this was the most common source of digital content used in their classroom.

21C Learning is broadly used to describe how education is changing to meet the needs of today's learners. It is often incorrectly associated with educational technology use, or ed tech integration within classrooms. There are five core "C's" associated with 21C Learning, none specifically dependent on technology. Any three of the five "C's" are;
