Generally, it's true. It is the case for all public schools and Catholic schools.
False, in that there are instances where teachers do not have to follow the Alberta Programs of Study (homeschooling, Band Operated Schools on First Nations that choose not to follow the Alberta Programs of Study, for example). Also, in some public schools certain curricular areas (i.e. music) are exempted from the program and they are not taught.
