(SNES) When I first heard about this game, I was filled with dread. I didn't think Takara would be able to pull this translation off. This game has all of the moves of the other console's version, plus there is a way to play as the Bosses! This is one of best fighting games around for the SNES. and shouldn't be missed. Only the music suffers a bit. It's a small price to pay for such an awesome game. 9/10

What is "Fatal Fury 2"? (Takara)

(Compared to the Neo Geo version.)

(Genesis) What we have here is a game with great graphics, animation and sound plagued by difficult control, plus way too many cheap hits. Since the character has no defensive moves like a blocking, you end up inching your way toward enemies just to hit them. All the different attacks he can perform on enemies are great. The problem is that they're so hard to execute, you end up getting frustrated in the long run. 5/10

What is "The Incredible Hulk"? (U.S. Gold)

100

(Game Gear) As a big fan of the movie, this game hits right on the mark as one of the best portable games to come out for the Game Gear. As you play through the game, you will find that it is loaded with some exceptional graphics and cool backgrounds. The sound isn't half-bad, either. I like the controls and the way the game plays, although it was a little on the easy side. This is a fine choice for Game Gear owners. 7/10

What is "Aladdin"? (Sega)

100

(Jaguar) This game is a return to the good old days of arcade-dom with this revival of the popular game. This version has excellent music, graphics, and sound effects -- not to mention unique (yet very strange) bonus rounds. One major difference, however, is the absence (so far) of the the type of controller found in the arcade. The pack in controller just doesn't hack it. Maybe they'll make one. 8/10

What is "Tempest 2000"? (Atari)

He wants a paddle controller.

100

(Genesis) This game has a different layout from a different console's counterpart. Pick from three warriors to battle it out in horizontal and vertically-scrolling stages. There are even some RPG-ish elements through in like interactive characters. 7/10

What is "Pirates of Dark Water"? (Sunsoft)

Compared to the SNES version.

200

(SENS) If you want a great action game, this game delivers. The graphics and tunes reflect the source material brilliantly. There's a lots of stuff to find and loads of technique. The cinemas are also well done. Here's the bad news... this cart slows down way too much! Even when only a couple enemies are on the screen it happens. Other than that, the Mode 7 races are cool, and the control is perfect. It just needs to speed up a bit. 8/10

What is "The Flintstones"? (Taito)

200

(Sega CD) AAARGH, another full-motion video game! If you've played [two other FMV games], then you've played this game. Seriously though, this game is pretty cool. The first thing you'll notice is that the video is full screen, a Sega CD first. However this makes the video very blocky and often hard to see. There are tons of video clips so it's rare you'll see the same one over and over. Overall, this game is more of the same. 6/10

What is "Tomcat Alley"? (Sega)

He compared it to "Night Trap" and "Double Switch".

200

(Lynx) This is a game that the Atari Lynx has been longing for. Like its counterpart on another console, this game has great game play that exceeds many of the other action games of this genre. The sound, although 8-Bit, is OK and gets the player hyped. The problem I run into is the small characters. They are so small that you can't tell where you are sometimes. Anyone with a Lynx should pick this up. 6/10.

What is "Ninja Gaiden III"? (Atari)

Compared to the NES version.

200

(3DO) An eagerly anticipated title that sadly doesn't deliver. Oh, it looks great, but it really takes a nose-dive where the actual play mechanics are concerned. The control was very "touchy" causing the faintest of movements to come come off like major ones. The graphics are truly top notch as is the music (the latter, however, is truly irrelevant for some of the stages, though). Not bad for an early 3DO shooter title. 6/10

What is "Total Eclipse"? (Crystal Dynamics)

200

(SNES) A unique adventure game using the plot right out of "The Poseidon Adventure". Get out of a passenger ship that has turned upside-down. Here you must use precise abilities other than kicking, jumping, and punching. 7/10

What is "S.O.S." (Vic Tokai)

300

(SNES) This certainly isn't a kiddie game. This game is a challenge for even the best of players. Sometimes too much so. The visuals and voices are directly from the show and captures its spirit. The cinemas are among the best around. Sometimes it's a little hard to get him where you want him to go. If you're looking for a game that you won't beat on one setting, this game will come through for you. 9/10.

What is "Rocko's Modern Life"? (Viacom)

Really what is "Rocko's Modern Life"? I never heard of it before this review.

300

(3DO) OH YES! This how the 3DO should be. This classic game is even better than another version. The graphics are incredibly smooth and the cinema displays will knock your feet off! Flight simulators are a true rarity and this fame should be an excellent addition to anyone's 3DO wish list. The missions are truly challenging with a lot of variety and great computer opponents. A fantastic game! 8/10

What is "Super Wing Commander"? (Origin)

Compared to the PC version.

300

(Sega CD) This game is probably more or a movie that you direct rather than a video game. When I first turned on the game, I was treated to an excellent theatrical score what like in this movie. Scared the doo-doo out of me. The full-motion video, although done very well, sufferered a little from being too grainy which made the characters hard to see sometimes. Overall, this is a decent game for the Sega CD. 6/10

What is "Dracula Unleashed"? (Sega)

The score to "Bram Stoker's Dracula scared the poo-poo out of Al.

300

(Turbo Duo) For domestic games, this one shows why the Duo is flagging: This game offers nothing new (even the lively rock background music is becoming tiresome), there is nothing here the series hasn't done before. These shooters never really excited me in the first place, so die-hard fans of the series many want to decide for themselves. Why not put some resources into bringing excellent Japanese Duo games here? 5/10

What is "Super Air Zonk"? (TTI)

300

(Genesis) A colorful, but incredibly frustrating side-scroller where you can pick from two characters. The control is less-than-precise, making those precision jumps very maddening. However the Password Option helps. 5/10

What is "Asterix the Gaul"? (Sega)

400

(Genesis) This type of game normally appeals to me, but this game seems to play quite slow. I don't get the feeling of being in control and the events don't seem connected. The graphics are very good and I really likes being able to play as the British. The strategy part of the game is very well done and if this is your type of cart, you better plan to set a lot of time aside for it because once you start, you won't stop! 7/10

What is "Liberty or Death"? (Koei)

400

(Turbo Duo) Role-playing games have always been my favorite type, but this game is nothing to get excited over. Sure, it has a long and twisting plot but the aggravatingly slow play and constant barrage of enemies nearly every step you take. The music would really help the score if the game didn't have so many faults. Id the only system you own is a Duo and you must have an RPG, then check it out, but beware. 4/10

What is "Might and Magic III"? (TTI)

400

(CD-i) This is one of the most faithful arcade translations for any system ever. This game comes out true to the arcade version in every way. All the animations from the scenes have been ported over to the CD-i with amazing color and clarity. The voice-overs and music are a direct digital transfer from the laserdisc. The only problem is that the game is a little easier with a larger margin of error to make your moves. 7/10

What is "Space Ace"? (Phillips)

400

(Lynx) For a racing game, this game really disappoints. I was never a fan of the other versions of this one, but I found the perspective disorienting and the game play unresponsive. I was also annoyed by the blurring of the graphics -- it was hard to see what was coming and exactly which vehicle was mine. The Lynx system can surely do better than this! These racers on portables never really worked. 4/10

What is "Super Off-Road"? (Telegames)

He also disliked the Genesis, NES, and SNES versions.

400

(3DO) A very original title where you must defend your land by building traps, moats, etc. from a band of killers named the same name as the game. This is a nice blend of action and strategy. and thrown in with some hilarious cinemas. Very well done. 8/10

What is "The Horde"? (Crystal Dynamics)

500

(Genesis) This game reminds me of the Golden Age of Genesis Shooters. This game would easily be the cream of the crop a few years back, and by today's standards, rates right there. Unlike a lot of shooters, this one gives you a constant challenge from beginning to end. The graphics are top-notch, with power ups that are really helpful. The sound of your shots is extremely annoying, but it's a minor flaw. 8/10

What is "Grid Stormer"? (Tengen)

500

(Game Boy) I'm not a top this type of sportsman but what we have here is a cool game that is just getting old. The original versions from a few years back were fabulous for their time. Although it's on the Game Boy, there's no blurring but color really does have its place in this kind of sports game. Selection is good and the other options really help out. I guess this would be a good game to take with you on a trip. At least you'll get something. 5/10

What is "Black Bass: Lure Fishing"? (Hot-B)

He's not a top fisherman.

500

(Game Gear) I guess they'll make anything for a video game. Now they've got one for this type of card game, this game is a decent game for a card game. There are plenty of cool options to make it interesting on those long road trips. The options to play in any of four casinos is useless because they all look the same. I can't say much for the graphics and sound, because I am not a fan of portables. Just use a real deck. 5/10

What is "Poker Face Paul: Blackjack"? (Sega)

500

(SNES) This cartoon holds up well with this game translation! The graphics are very reminiscent of the cartoon series and the many items you have to use in the game provides a lot of diversity. Really nice Mode 7 effects, too. A good kiddie game. 7/10

What is "Inspector Gadget"? (Hudson Soft)

500

(SNES) This is like an old classic arcade game. Using a first-person perspective, you zip around and fire at targets. Once major problem is you can take several hits before even getting an enemy in your sights. 6/10

What is "Spectre"? (GameTek)

The classic arcade game was "Battlezone".
