Mikayla is working at the St. Louis child development center for the day. In the morning when kids are being dropped off she holds their hands while walking them across the street into the school. She helps them put away their backpacks and get ready for the day.

In the morning of our first retreat 3 staffers stand at the door to greet retreatants. They offer high fives, fist bumps, or hand shakes when greeting them. They then direct them where to go to sign in for the day.

One weekend STRONG decides to volunteer at a nursing home. When visiting one room, you talk to an older man. You notice his clothes are torn and his bedsheets are dirty. There are bugs in his room from dirty dishes and an overall odor in the room. The nurse has not come in once since you have been there that day.

You go to shadow a planning meeting to learn more ways to do retreats. The planning meeting includes teens and adults. When leaving you notice one core team member takes two teens home. One is their own child and the other was gave written permission to go home with that person. The last teen waits for their parent to pick them up. One core team members walks up to them alone and says they'll take them home so they don't have to wait alone in the dark. (the meeting was at night)
