We can thank this amendment for the freedom of speech, the press, and religion, among other things.
What is the first amendment?
Deals with the legislative branch of geovernment.
What is Article 1?
"The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
What is the 2nd Amendment?
Emancipated slaves.
What is the 13th amendment?
Allowed women the right to vote.
What is the 19th amendment?
Gives us protection against having to quarter troops.
What is the 3rd amendment?
Details the duties of the Judicial Branch.
What is Article 3?
Protects us against excessive bail and cruel and unusual punishment.
What is the 8th Amendment?
Banned the production, sale, and use of alcohol.
What is the 18th amendment?
Allowed alcohol again.
What is the 21st amendment?
Discusses money disputes of civil court cases.
What is the 7th amendment?
Describes the powers of the executive branch.
What is Article 2?
Discusses the rights to a jury of peers, witnesses for you and against you, and of double-jeopardy.
What is the 5th Amendment?
Allowed citizens 18 and older the right to vote.
What is the 26h amendment?
Allowed representation in congress for the city of Washington D.C.
What is the 23rd amendment?
Guarantees the right to a "speedy and public trial."
What is the 6th amendment?
Discusses the process by which amendments may be added to the Constitution.
All powers not specifically given to the federal government are given to the states.
What is the 10th amendment?
Made senators have to win a direct election.
What is the 17th amendment?
Abolished the poll tax which forced citizens to pay to vote.
What is the 24th amendment?
Outlines illegal and legal search warrants.
What is the 4th amendment?
Outlines state-to-state relations and includes the "Full Faith and Credit" clause.
What is Article 4?
Any basic human rights not specifically mentioned in the Constitution are given to the people.
What is the 9th amendment?
Presidents and Vice Presidents became a packaged-deal, having to run together after this amendment.
What is the 12th amendment?
Starts and ends a presidential term on the Jan. 20 immediately following an election. (Jan. 3 for Congress)
