Conflict is any struggle that characters must overcome to achieve their goal.

What is atmospehre?
The way a place or setting makes you (the reader) feel based on its description.
What is setting?
The time and place a story takes place

A round character undergoes development throughout the story, a flat chacater stays the same from start to finish.
What is dialogue? How can it affect a story?
The conversation/words exchanged between charcters. It gives us insight into th characters (personalities, background, etc).

What is suspense? What is its purpose?
The intense feeling that an audience goes through while waiting for the outcome of certain events. It makes the reader want to read more, without it the reader could lose interest.
What is tone? How does it differ from mood?
Tone is how the author feels about the ideas he/she presents in the story. Mood is how WE feel as the reader as we read the story.
What are two types of narration?
A “reliable narrator” is defined as someone who is accurate and impartial, so by contrast, an "unreliable narrator" is untrustworthy.

A literary device used to give an indication or hint of what is to come later in the story. Foreshadowing is useful for creating suspense, a feeling of unease, a sense of curiosity, or a mark that things may not be as they seem
Direct foreshadowing: In this type of foreshadowing, the story openly suggests an impending problem, event, or twist. Direct foreshadowing is usually accomplished through the characters’ dialogue, the narrator’s comments, a prophecy, etc.
Indirect foreshadowing: In this type of foreshadowing, the story hints at an outcome by leaving subtle clues throughout the story.
