HOW DO YOU DETERMINE AUTHOR'S PURPOSE?

  • Analyze the text: Look for clues in the language, structure, and content of the text.
  • Consider the audience: Who is the author writing for, and what do they want the audience to take away from the text?
  • Think about the context: Why was this text written? What's the overall message the author is trying to convey?
