We think this is why the Democrats use a Donkey as their symbol.
Former President Andrew Jackson was called a name and instead of being insulted by it, he decided to use it as a symbol to represent himself. He called donkeys smart, brave and strong-willed.
300
We think that Republicans use an elephant as their symbol for this reason:
The Republican party was symbolized in a cartoon as an elephant because they see themselves as strong and dignified.

Democratic Presidents like to raise taxes: True or False? *BONUS Point* WHY?
True Democratic Presidents raise taxes to help fund public things like schools, roads and community centers.
400
Republican presidents usually raise taxes. True or False? *BONUS* WHY?
False Republicans lower taxes because they want people to go spend their money at stores so that the stores make more money. When the stores make more money, they hire more people. When more people get hired, they spend money too. Republicans want to grow the economy and make businesses better.

Can a candidate for President win more states than the other candidate and still lose the election? Why or why not?
Yes. The person that wins needs at least 270 electoral college votes. If they only win a few states, but they all have HUUUUUUGE amounts of votes, they would win the election.
500
When are primaries and caucuses used (who are people voting for)?
These are used BEFORE the General Election (the one for President between candidates from both parties). There can be several people from each party running for election and once they win enough primaries or caucuses, they become the nominee for their party for the Presidency.
