There are nearly thirty thousand different species of wasps. Wasps come in myriad colors, everything from the familiar yellow-and-black to metallic blue. Some are solitary species that live without the benefit of a colony or group. Others, like yellow jackets and hornets, are social insects, meaning that they live in colonies and build large communal nests. Each species has its own unique characteristics.

Which one has a more concerned tone:

1. He could hear the EMS person shouting orders, but  could not open his eyes. Every part of his body hurt...it even hurt to draw a breath. I can't tell you how long he lay there before a kindly voice said to him, "You're going to be okay."

2. I gasped for breath- and yet no one heard it. I could hear them walking upstairs, searching for my true self. Searching for my evil secrets!  No one understands how a person - how I - could end up in this place, crouched down in fear waiting for the officers to drag me out.

2 Because it is told in first person as if they are there which increases the feeling of concern

Good study habits train your brain for success. Applying effective learning methods will not only improve your grades but, more importantly, increase your long-term knowledge.

Cramming at the last minute is ineffective. Instead, try to create a study routine. Schedule specific blocks of time to study every day. Next, find the best environment that helps you concentrate. Some students do better with the silence of a library, while others need the background noise or music of a public space.

The color of your hair depends on how much of each type of melanin, or pigment, it contains. All hair colors, from black to blond and everything in between, result from the blending of just two types of melanin: eumelanin (dark) and phaeomelanin (light). Each hair grows out of an individual follicle, or tiny tube beneath the skin's surface. Pigment cells in the follicle inject melanin into the hair shaft as the hair develops and grows longer. In later years, the follicle slows its production of melanin. Hairs with less melanin appear gray in color. If melanin production shuts down altogether, then the new hairs, lacking any melanin, will be white.

There are many good reasons to learn a second language. A second language can improve your understanding of your native language, open the door to new job opportunities, and help you learn about other cultures. Yet American students are less likely than European students to study foreign languages in school. To address this gap, several states have begun doing more to encourage biliteracy—the ability to read and write in two languages. California, New York, and Illinois are among the states that have passed laws establishing a state "Seal of Biliteracy." A Seal of Biliteracy shows that a student has achieved proficiency in a second language. Supporters of the seals say that they honor the importance of second-language learning. The seals also provide colleges and future employers with evidence of students' abilities.

Although some European countries are more likely to teach a second language than America, some American states have started to encourage biliteracy.

A dizzying array of carved records tells Palenque's story: curvy-beaked birds with crosshatched feathers; muscled warriors with grass anklets; suns and moons.Over 1,400 buildings have been documented, but the trim lawn giving way to lush jungle hints that there is more here than ruins. Roam onto cloaked jungle paths for another sense of this ancient place. Listen for the sharp cries of monkeys and parrots. Glimpse the shifting light falling through the canopy, revealing the rise of a dozen dragonflies!

When a person ingests caffeine, whether in the form of a cup of coffee or tea, a caffeinated soda, or even a piece of dark chocolate, the drug begins to take effect almost immediately. First, caffeine enters the bloodstream through the membranes of the stomach and small intestine. It is then metabolized by the liver, which breaks it down into other chemicals. Within fifteen minutes of consumption, most people begin to feel the effects of caffeine, which can include increased heart rate and feelings of alertness or well-being. Within six hours of consumption, about half of the original dose of the drug will have been eliminated from the body. This is why some people drink a second cup of coffee in the afternoon.
