In Book 9 of "The Odyssey" by Homer, Odysseus and his men find a cave full of goats and cheese. They choose to stay there and eat cheese to wait for who lives there because Odysseus wants a gift, but they end up getting into a lot of trouble when a giant Cyclops named Polyphemus returns and traps them inside.

How can you find the theme of a story by looking closely at the conflict?

You can identify the theme (or lesson) of a story by looking at how the main character solves the conflict (or problem). Then we see how this can help us understand how there is a life lesson that everyone can learn.
