What is FICTION?
The WHERE and WHEN a story takes place. Can include a country, a time period, and/or a specific location. Many stories contain multiple settings.
What is the SETTING?
A figure of speech that compares two unlike things using like or as.
What is a SIMILE?
A figure of speech that gives human qualities to nonhuman objects.
What is PERSONIFICATION?
A factual text that gives an account of the life of a real person. Often about well-known figures, such as politicians, social activists, artists, or athletes.
What is a BIOGRAPHY?
A conclusion that is made by a reader using evidence from a text combined with the reader's background knowledge.
What is an INFERENCE?
The key events that happen during the story; may include a conflict to be overcome.

The perspective from which the story is written.

Words and phrases in a text that help the reader determine the meanings of unknown words.
What are CONTEXT CLUES?
A work of prose fiction that is usually less than 40 pages in length which usually only covers only a few characters in a specific plot and takes place during a limited period of time.
What is a SHORT STORY?
The real-world life lesson that a story teaches the reader.

The retelling of the main events in a text in a shorter version.
What is a SUMMARY?
When the narrator is one of the characters and the story is told from his/her/their viewpoint.

The type of text that is composed of scenes and is written to be performed in from of an audience.

It is who experiences the events of a story, often people, but also could be animals or objects with human characteristics.
