Both. Throughout the CAT and in the 1st part of the PT.
What does it mean when it states "Author's Intent?"

Describe the difference between an INTRODUCTION, BODY, and CONCLUSION.
INTRODUCTION is the first paragraph, the BODY is the middle (CER) and the CONCLUSION is the last paragraph of a piece of writing.
Describe the 2 parts of the PT (Performance Task).
The first section is a lot of reading with 1 short answer. The second section is a lot of reading and the writing directions with a lot of writing (narrative, expository, or argumentative essay).
Why is the SHORT ANSWER RESPONSE like a CER?
Because you will need to make a CLAIM (main idea), offer EVIDENCE from the text to support, and give REASONING why the evidence supports the claim.
2 parts:
1) What do you need to maximize your ORGANIZATION points on an expository or argumentative essay?
2) What do you need to maximize your points in NARRATIVE writing?
1) Transitions (First of all, Meanwhile, Another reason is, Finally, etc.)
2) Dialogue between characters
