What is Main Idea?
Main idea is the big idea of a text or what the story is all about.
What is a synonym?
A synonym is when a word has the same meaning as another word.
What does the word setting mean?
The setting is where or when the story takes place.
What does RACES stand for?
Restate, answer, cite, explain, self check

A fact is something that is True. An opinion is what someone thinks or believes.

A antonym is when a word has the opposite meaning as another word.

Compare means to tell how two or more things are alike.

A root word is the simplest form of a word. Also known as the base word. It must stand alone.

Plot is the important events in the story, including the beginning middle, and end.

A summary is when you give a retell of the important parts of a story. You describe what happened in the beginning, middle, and end, but only focus on the main points.

An introduction is the first sentence or paragraph in your writing. It introduces the main idea of your writing.

Contrast means to tell how two or more things are different.

Context clues are clues good readers use to identify unknown words.

Drawing conclusions is creating a new understanding of a text by identifying text evidence in order to determine what is not directly stated.
