Shop Work
Each student is provided one of these to hold their projects during shop work.
What is a clipboard?
Level 1 students have theory days on these two days of the week.
What are Monday and Wednesday?
This grade makes up the largest portion (40%) of a student’s final MP grade.
What is professionalism/work ethic?
Every student must pass written and performance tests for these before using them in the shop.
What are power tools?
These must be worn daily and are provided by the school.

What is the shop whiteboard?
These are used for interactive lessons instead of lots of textbook reading.
What are PowerPoints?
At the end of each day, students must fill one of these out to record what they did.
What is a Daily Write Up Sheet?
Students take two online courses at the start of the year through this association
What is the American Ladder Association?
Pants may have small holes, but holes bigger than this size are not allowed.
What is 2–3 inches in diameter?
These are used to measure proficiency on individual parts of a task.
What are grading rubrics?
These short checks are given after lessons to make sure students understand concepts.
What are quizzes?
Points may be deducted for infractions such as poor clean-up habits, bad attitude, or distracting others.
What is the daily score?
The beginning of each year includes general lessons on this important topic.
What is shop safety?
The entire class goes as a group on these two “vending days.”
What are Tuesdays and Fridays?
Only students with good character and performance may participate in this type of work, sometimes done in the community or in other shops.
What is live work?
This type of day requires students to complete worksheets or projects on their own without direct instruction.
What is an independent theory day?
The instructor uses this to teach professionalism beyond just finishing work.
What is work ethic daily grade?
Each student must wear these shoes while in the shop.
What are leather work boots or shoes?
Students are assigned these blue storage units to keep hand tools, safety glasses, and boots.
What are shop lockers?
This type of project is tied directly to a task number on the task list and measures proficiency.
What is a competency project?
Before a unit test, the instructor often posts this online for students to review.
What is the PowerPoint presentation in Google Classroom?
Cell phones must be stored here during shop time.
What is the shop locker?
If lost or misused, students must pay to replace these required safety items, costing around $3
What are safety glasses?
Excessive use of this in language can result in a deduction of the daily work ethic grade.
