In a series circuit, if one bulb burns out - will the current flow in the circuit? Why or why not?
No. If any part of a series circuit is broken or removed, the circuit is open and will not flow.

What does a transformer do with the electricity as it leaves the power plant and then before it enters your house?
From the power plant, a step up transformer increases the voltage of the electricity (to 400,000 volts!). Then once it reaches your home, a step down transformer changes it to a lower voltage so that it can be used in your home (way down to 240 volts).
