The Power Struggle
500

You are designing a safety system for a high-voltage lab. Explain why a bird can sit on a high-voltage power line without being shocked, but a person standing on the ground would be electrocuted if they touched the same wire.

What is because the bird is not part of a closed circuit (the electricity has no path to the ground through the bird), whereas the person provides a path for the current to flow from the high-voltage wire to the low-voltage ground?
