What is a circuit?
A path for electricity to flow
What is electricity?
The flow of charge
Electricity generated by water is called
Hydropower
Wood
Insulator
Give an example of 2 loads
sound buzzer
computer
etc.
What is current electricity?
Electric charge that moves from a source of electrical energy along a controlled path in an electric circuit
Electrons move along a pathway
Energy from the sun can be captured and turned into electricity using these
Solar Panels
Plastic
Insulator
This part of the circuit powers the load
energy source
List 3 ways to conserve electricity
turn lights off when not being used, unplug appliances when not in use, dry clothes outside instead of in dryer, etc.
Is coal a renewable or non-renewable resource?
Non-renewable
Iron
Conductor
The part of the circuit that allows electrons to pas through
What material is this part of the circuit made of?
Conductor, metals
What is static electricity?
Stationary buildup of electric charge on a substance. Stationary buildup of electric charge on a substance
List 3 sources of energy that don't create pollution
2. sun
3. moving water
Most common conductor found in electrical wires
copper
Describe the difference between a parallel and series circuit
Parallel -
1) Series Circuits
Description: In a series circuit, electricity has only one path to follow. All parts are connected to one another. Electrons flow from the negative side of the battery around in a loop to the positive side.
1 path for electric current to flow
2) Parallel Circuits:
Description: In a parallel circuit, electricity has more than one path to follow. Electrons can follow different paths as they flow from the negative side of the battery to the positive side.
More than one path for electric current to flow
What are the particles called that make up an atom? What are their charges?
Proton - Positive
Neutron - Neutral
Electron - Negative
How does electricity get to your house?
Where can you find these?
Power lines, side of roads
