This course is designed for students interested in the integrated knowledge of child development, classroom behaviors of children and how research findings are applied to teaching and learning environments. Content to be covered includes child development theories and research, diversity in the classroom, culturally responsive teaching and essential understandings of anti-racist teaching with a focus on development of racial identity, and the roles and responsibilities of school faculty and staff in meeting children's developmental needs.

This course prepares educators of young children to include rich, meaningful arts experiences in their teaching.
