What are some of the pronouns used in FIRST person?
I and me/we are pronouns used to represent FIRST person.
This is when the narrator shows the thoughts and feelings of ONE character, since the narrator is only limited to that character.
What are the three questions when speaking about setting?
Where? When and what background information is given?
Who is included as a character in the story when the narrator speaks in second person?
'You' the reader become a character in the story.
What does Omniscient mean?
Omniscient can be broken into two aspects
omni- which means ALL
scient- means knowing
Omniscient means ALL KNOWING.
What/ who is Point of View about?
P.O.V is all about the narrator.
The knowledge level of our narrator is separated into three parts, what are they?
What is the last thing the reader MUST consider about the narrator?
The reader must consider whether the narrator is trustworthy/ reliable.
Sometimes the reader may find an unreliable narrator.
What are three things to consider when referring to point of view?
What person it's in? The knowledge of the narrator and Trustworthy/ unreliable narrators
What is Objective narration?
He/ she does not know the feelings/ thoughts of any of the characters. He/ she treats the characters as though they are objects.
Give an explanation of MOOD and TONE.
The tone is often created by the narrator/ speaker. It refers to the feelings of the narrator/ speaker.
Whereas the mood is the way in which the reader feels.
So the tone is ALL about the speaker and the mood is ALL about the reader
Why is background information necessary in setting?
Background is important because it may influence the types of characters that the reader may come across. Also it may include certain norms/ values in that era/ time.
What is the one MAJOR difference between Objective and Omniscient narration?
Objective narrator knows nothing about the characters, whilst omniscient knows everything about the characters.
What is the theme?
The theme is the universal message that the reader often relates to.
