He was a kind man but did not have a lot of money. He was also very helpful and very generous with is time and with what little money he had.
Why did the twp schools do this project together?
THey wanted to learn about immigration topic in a difftaerent way.
What were some of the things the ELL students have to learn when they came to the US besides learning English?
They learned how how to follow schedules, ask for help, make friends with American students and join clubs and sports.
Why was the Border Kid nervous about crossing back to the United States?
He was afraid that he might get stuck in Mexico and can't get home to the US or be separated from his family.
How did the Kid finally get his phone?
He received the phone as a CHristmas gift from his father.
What was the gift Mr. Lim and his father gave to the charity?
They gave them money that they put away when Mr. Lim was a boy and both of them made the children in the charity happy by being a clown.
What did the ELL students from the Newcomer School learn from the US students at St. Luke School?
They learned about the customs of the United States, they also leanred more English and become friends with them.
What were some of the reasons why the ELL students and their families come to the US?
Some came to the US to have a better life and get jobs that will make more money for themselves and their family. There are more opportunities for ELL families to be successful in life while other escaped dangerous politial situations in their home countries.

Someone who lives close to a border between two countries and know the culture of both countries.

How does Mr. Lim's father define being rich?
Being rich mean does not mean having a lot of money or things, but being rich is what you can give away. That is what makes other people and yourself happy.
What did the American students from St. Luke's school learn from the ELL students from Newcomers School?
They learned about their struggles about coming to the US from their home country, learning English and making friends.

Newcomer students can learn English in different ways. They can make friends with American students who can help them speak English. They can join clubs and sports team that interest them. They can also go to homework clubs and libraries to help them learn more English Vocabulary.
