What is the focus of ENC 1102? (In your own words)
This course builds on what you already know about writing and helps you develop new strategies to adapt to a variety of writing situations you'll find in college and beyond. Our goal is to provide a foundation for students to develop and refine the knowledge and practices that support writing, critical thinking, and rhetorical understanding. Our focus is on the intellectual rigor, writer's self-agency, and collaborative competencies connected to success within and beyond USF.
When is the use of cell phones appropriate in class?
When class activities call for the use of cell phones or we are working on independent work (please silent phones during class).
What is the late policy for assignments?
10% will be deducted for each day the assignment is late.
What are the main forms of communication for ENC 1102?
The classroom, Canvas, and USF email.
What should you do if you are struggling with content or due dates?
Reach out and talk with me, and we can figure something out. I will meet you halfway! I care about you; I really do, and will do all I can to make sure you are as successful as you can be.

When is the use of air pods/ other wired or non-wired ear phones acceptable in class?
Never. This policy emanates from a principle of kindness; when we are with another person or persons, we want to give our complete, undivided attention. If any such devices are used, Finley will kindly ask you to kindly engage in class.

What happens if you exceed your allotted free absences (freebies) during the semester?
Additional absences will result in a 50% deduction in the assignment given on the 5th+ day the student was absent. This means the assignment will receive an "F."
