These glands secrete the hormones for reproduction and secondary sexual characteristics.
What are the gonads?
This hormone, produced and released by the pineal gland, regulates sleep-wake patterns.
What is melatonin?
There are 4 of these glands and they are located on the posterior surface of the thyroid gland.
What are the parathyroid glands?
This hormone, released by the adrenal glands, helps the body react to stress.
What is cortisol?
This gland produces and secretes many of the hormones related to the fight-or-flight response in the body.
What are the adrenal glands?
This hormone, produced in the pituitary gland, promotes the growth of body tissues.
What is growth hormone (gh)?
This pea-shaped gland at the base of the brain has two lobes.
What is the pituitary gland?
This hormone, produced in the pituitary gland, stimulates breast milk production.
What is prolactin (prl)?
This gland is deep to the neck muscles, and is stimulated by TSH, and releases T3, T4, and calcitonin.
What is the thyroid gland?
This hormone increases blood calcium levels by triggering its release from bone into the bloodstream.
