This is the type of material used if accuracy is of utmost importance.

These are types of materials that may be used.

What is an elastomeric material?

*Bases may be packaged as a paste in a tube, putty in a jar, or cartridge.

*Catalyst (accelerator) may be packaged as paste in a tube, cartridge, or liquid in a bottle.

***BTC uses a cartridge w/ a base & catalyst***

What are Polyvinyl siloxane, Polysulfide, Polyether, Silicone?

200

These are ways in which the operator can diagnose if a tooth needs a root canal.

What are:

X-rays

Ice (cylinder of ice or Endo Ice)

Percussion: Tapping on the tooth with a firm object

Hot test (hot water, gutta percha)

Vitality tester

200

This is the removal of the entire pulp.

This is the removal of the coronal portion of the tooth.

This is the removal of a root from a multi-rooted tooth.

This may be indicated if filling material has extended into the periapical tissue.

This replaces one or more missing teeth & is supported by abutment (remaining natural teeth).

What is a fixed bridge?

200

True or False: Local anesthetic is not required for procedures where removal of enamel and dentin take place.

What is false?

*There are exceptions for this per pt request, however the rule of thumb is to numb the patient.

200

When mixing irreversible hydrocolloid, the cooler the water the set.

What is slower?

*When mixing an irreversible hydrocolloid (alginate), the warmer the water the faster it sets; the cooler the water the slower it sets.

300

This is the title for a dentist who treats pulpal and periapical issues.

Who is an Endodontist?

300

This is used to permanently seal the canal after obturation.

What is heat? *Torch/Glick, Touch N' Heat.

The prepared tooth on a working model is referred to as this.

This is used to help the laboratory establish occlusal relationship when making the die.

This is the product used for making diagnostic casts.

What is the 'die'?

What is an occlusal bite registration? *You can use Regisil or a wax horseshoe.

What is model plaster?

300

If a custom temporary crown can not be made for a patient, this is an alternative.

What is a prefab aluminum crown or a polycarbonate crown?

*When using an aluminum crown it is important to trim it around the gingival margin & crimp the edges prior to cementation for optimal pt comfort.

300

This is the preferred type of tray for taking an alginate impression.

What is a perforated tray?

400

If a vital tooth has little tooth structure left, this is the best choice to do prior to a crown prep.

What is place a core buildup?

400

After the bony layer covering the apex is removed during an apicoectomy, the operator will do this.

This is something that is sometimes used to help the laboratory fabricating a fixed prosthodontic to gain occlusal relationship.

This is the name brand of the material used in BTC.

What is a bite registration?

Operator will remove the top cord (if there are 2 placed) & dry the tooth.

Pass the operator the light bodied material (syringe type/wash type: light bodied Affinis)

Fill the impression tray with an elastomeric material aka. Polyvinyl siloxane tray type (Affinis)

Pass the operator the tray filled w/ heavy bodied Affinis.
