Monopolar
The first thing that should be done if a scope malfunctions during an active bleed.
Obtain backup scope
Before a hot snare is used, this should be confirmed realated to the grounding pad.
Verifying the pad is correctly applied on: clean, hair free, well-vascularized muscle; fully adhered and connected to the generator

Timeout
This is used for esophageal strictures, pyloric or intestinal narrowing
Dilators
These things can be done to achieve endoscopic hemostasis
Clips, cautery, powder or spray
Ground pads placed over scar tissue, bony prominences or wet skin increase the risk of this complication
Burns
This quality test is the first step in scope cleaning
Leak testing
More commonly used as insufflation over room air due to its quick absorption by the body
CO2
This is used for esophageal varices treatment

Bleeding
Electrosurgery, APC and lasers are all what part f the fire triangle during endoscopy
Ignition source
Tracking scope serial numbers, patient information, technicians, and cycle data ensures this
Traceability

Patient repositioning and targeted abdominal pressure

Endoloop
Direct trauma, excessive air pressure or thermal injury can all lead to what type of emergency.
Perforation
This portion of the fire triangle is increased during endoscopy procedures and can increase the risk of fire when using electrocautery.
Oxygen
This type of disinfection is verified when documentation of cycle completion occurrs
High-Level Disinfection
During an ERCP or EGD, cytology brushing is commonly performed when the physician identifies this.
Candida fungus
Instructions for use: Remove as much blood as possible; get as close to the bleeding spot as you can; apply by moving the applicator until the product exceeds the margins of the leison.
PuraStat
A rare complication caused by excessive gas (insufflation/APC) enters the vessels
Gas embolism

ANSI/AAMI; AORN and SGNA state these things should be present in the scope drying cabinet
Scopes hang vertically; scopes hang freely so they do not touch each other or cabinet walls; pressure regulated or HEPA filtered air cycles through; doors remain closed
