Explain why matter changing state, is not necessarily a physical change.
What is heat causes change. Therefore, if a type of matter heats up, it can change state but still be the same type of matter. If the matter heats up enough, it will burn up and change substance all together.
Example - water heats up and changes to water vapor.
Ice heats up and changes to water - in both cases, it's still water just in a different state.
Example - wood heats up, eventually catches on fire - turns to ash - NEW substance!
