Explain how your digestive system can be out of homeostasis if you have celiac disease.
*Hint - When people with celiac disease eat gluten, their body mounts an immune response that attacks the small intestine. These attacks lead to damage on the villi that line the small intestine.
If the villi are damaged then the patient will not be able to get nutrients from the food that they eat. If they are unable to access the nutrients in the food they eat the cells around their body will not get the necessary nutrients. This could result in long term effects on the organs and tissues of the body.
