The Formula for work
What is force times distance
100
Thermal energy
What is Total PE and KE energy of the molecules in an object. Ex.- rub your hands together, heat a pot of water
100
Law of conservation of Energy is also called...
What is The first law of thermodynamics
100
An energy conversion between PE and KE will result in...
What is PE decreasing and KE increasing or vice versa (inverse relationship)
100
What is absolute zero?
What is 0 degrees K.
200
The formula for Power
What is work divided by time
200
Electrical Energy
What is electricity- Ex. lightning, electrical lines
200
The law of conservation is...
What is LCE = Law of Conservation of Energy: States that energy cannot be created or Destroyed, but can change its form (be transformed). • The total amount of energy is the same at the beginning, middle, and end of an energy transformation. EXAMPLES: A pendulum; bouncing ball, and the LCD projector ALL transform energy. The LCD projector changes electrical energy into mechanical energy and into light energy. No energy was created. It was stored (potential) in the electrical socket and then changed into other types of energy

Pendulum and PE and KE energy
What is amount of PE and KE is equal inbetween max potential and max kinetic. A pendulum will never swing back to its original height because there is entropy in the system.

What is absolute zero in F?
What is -459 F

The formula for kinetic energy
What is 1/2 mass (kg) times velocity squared
300
Chemical energy
What is Potential energy stored in the chemical bonds that hold chemical compounds together- Ex. FOOD, match head, cells, wood, gasoline, dynamite.

The second law of thermodynamics is also called...
What is THE LAW OF ENTROPY :)
300
Potential energy
What is energy due to position
300
Absolute zero in Celsius
What is -223 C
400
The formula for potential energy
What is Mass times 9.8 m/s squared times height or weight times height
400
Nuclear energy
What is Energy stored in nucleus of atom- Ex. nuclear fission: when an atom splits Nuclear fussion: when the nuclei of two atoms fuse together- happens continously in the sun, and other stars.

The second law of thermodynamics is
What is States that when an energy conversion occurs (LCE) some of the energy is not used in the system. • A transformation is never 100% efficient. There is always some wasted thermal energy (heat), because of friction. • Because heat energy cannot be reused, it is considered to be WASTED. This is also known as an increase in the total disorder of the system (entropy) because the amount of useful energy is reduced . • The total amount of useful energy used in a system is reduced every time an energy transformaion is made. EXAMPLE: Weather changes, moving cars, the transfer of a nervous impulse in the body, the LCD projector. When the LCD projector changes its electrical energy into the other forms of energy, you can feel the wasted thermal energy (heat) coming out of the bottom of the machine. Because the thermal energy is not being used by the machine, entropy of the system is increasing.

Kinetic energy
What is energy due to mass and motion (velocity)
500
Mechanical energy
What is potential energy plus kinetic energy- stored in moving things- wind, water, falling rocks, riding a bike, and sound
500
electromagnetic energy
What is light, a microwave, radar, t.v's, radios, x-rays, UV radiation

The 3rd law of thermodynamics is...
What is Because of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, the only way to have 100% efficienct, would be to have absolutely no movement. Any movement creates heat. Heat is an increase in disorder (entropy) because it cannot be used by the system. BUT absolute 0 is unattainable because it is impossible to have something where none of the particles move!
