What are "late passes"?

They are just that- you get 4 in the first quarter, 3 in the second & third and 2 in the last quarter. You can use them for homework and writing assignments but not for reading quizzes or tests.

 Can I use my airpods in class? 

No, unless when we are writing. Please let Ms. Kanchi know you want to listen to music- we should be able to work that out. 

AirPods should be removed during teaching, discussions or group work.

I don't read minds or mumbles; not yet at least. Just be bold and ask- "I don't know how this works" could just be one of the smartest things you say on any given day.

1 - 9 minutes=Tardy (T);note 3 Tardies= 1 absence;1 attendance point

1- 20 minutes*= Missing Partial Instruction (MPI) or leaving before the period ends; 2 attendance points

21+ minutes =Missing Partial Instruction Plus (MPI PLUS); 4 attendance points

57 attendance points= Loss of credit for the course

 What are the consequences of cheating? Or using AI like ChatGPT? Gemini? Cloud? 

First time: 0 on plagiarized work, chance to redo assignment within a few days for, at most, half credit (50%)

Second time: 0 on assignment, no chance to earn credit on the assignment

After that: We’ll need to have a conversation about what’s going on and how we’ll avoid it in the future with your counselor and likely your parents

Connection between class materials and classroom engagement?

Keeping my supplies and materials organized is directly tied to my learning. Not having the necessary materials makes me lose precious class minutes when I can be learning.

What's the difference between "good" stress aka productive stress  and "bad" stress aka paralysing stress?

"Good" stress: Productive stress results in feeling motivated, challenged. When managed well, it builds resilience and fosters a problem-solving mindset.

"Bad" stress: Paralysing stress, on the other hand, lends itself to a feeling a depletion, exhaustion. Lends itself to feeling irritable and confused. Generally avoidable.

BE RESPECTFUL of your and your peers' learning space!

No food, please! A snack is fine as long as it is not a distraction for yourself or others; please be aware of crinkling sounds and strong smells- these can be distracting for others in the classroom community. Water is totally fine. If you are hungry, please let me know. We can figure something out!

(Only for B2 and B3 Days), Entire block 

ABSENCE; 44 min block= 3 attendance points ABSENCE; 82 min block= 6 attendance points

You are permitted 18 total absences in the year to receive credit for the course.  Once you are over these limits, you will lose the privilege of participating in co-curricular activities for the remainder of the year.
