Paraphrase the "academic integrity" policy of UW (outlined in the syllabus).

This is a policy prohibiting plagiarism/academic dishonesty - the act of representing someone else's ideas or writing as your own.  Instances of plagiarism are reported to the College of Arts and Sciences which triggers a review.

If I find that you have made an error in citation I will encourage you to fix it during revision.  Failure to properly revise citations may arouse suspicion of plagiarism.

How can you earn extra credit applied toward your participation grade?

Attend an extra writing center visit and write a 1 page memo outlining a revision plan per writing tutor feedback.

500

How can you get an extension and under what circumstances?

When appropriate, extensions are granted when the student explains the circumstances and asks at least 24 hours in advance.  Personal, medical/health, or family emergencies are all valid reasons to request extensions.

If you have missed a peer review due to an extension (or for any other reason) you can make up participation points with an extra credit writing center visit.  Your portfolio must show responsiveness to peer feedback, so I strongly encourage that you pursue this option for making up missed peer review.  It is in the interest of both your final participation and portfolio grades.

500

Why is close familiarity with the course outcomes so important?

Your work - including your final portfolio - is assessed according to this rubric.
