Water Cycle/Snowflakes
100

Evaporation

When water changes from a liquid to a gas because of an energy source.

100

Condensation

When water vapor changes back into a liquid

100

Why is Wilson Bentley famous?

He discovered photographing snow flakes.

100

Bonus: What Grade did Mrs. Nichols teach?

Grade 4

200

Precipitation

Moisture falling from the sky.

200

Temperature

The measure of either something that is hot or cold often found by using a thermometer.

200

Describe Wilson Bentley.

He was an American Meteorologist.

200

Why do snowflakes have 6 sides?

Snowflakes generally have six sides due to the hexagonal crystal structure of ice

300

Cohesion

The action of elements working together

300

Humidity

Moisture in the air and dampness

300

What evidence from the story supports your description?

Answers may vary

300

Name all the steps in the water cycle

Evaporation, condensation, precipitation, infiltration, transpiration, sublimation
400

Adhesion

The process of an object attaching to another object

400

Sublimation

When a solid becomes a gas without turning into a liquid first

400

What are the 4 types of precipitation?

Rain, snow, sleet, and hail

400

How do snowflakes form?

when extremely cold water vapor in the sky freezes onto tiny particles like dust, forming ice crystals. These ice crystals grow as they fall, with more water vapor freezing onto them and building branches that create the beautiful, symmetrical shapes we know as snowflakes.

500

Transpiration

When water is released into the atmosphere from plants

500

Infiltration

Water sinking into the ground

500

Describe the 4 types of precipitation

Rain:.Opens in new tabRain is the most common form of precipitation, where water falls from the clouds in liquid form.

Snow:.Opens in new tabSnow is precipitation in the form of ice crystals, typically forming when the air temperature is below freezing.

Sleet:.Opens in new tabSleet is a form of precipitation where raindrops freeze as they fall through a layer of cold air, forming ice pellets.

Hail:.Opens in new tabHail is ice that forms within thunderstorms, where updrafts carry water droplets high into the atmosphere, where they freeze and then fall as hail.
500

Draw a diagram of the water cycle

Diagrams should include all pieces of the water cycle
