Which famous Quaker founded Pennsylvania?
William Penn. He was given the land by king charles as payment for a debt the king owed to Penn’s father. Penn originally named it sylvania (meaning woods in Latin) but King Charles changed it to Pennsylvania in honor of William Penn’s father.

What did Quakers call themselves?
The Society of Friends. The term comes from the bible phrase "You are my friends if you do what I command you" (John 15:14). There are several stories speculating on why they went on to be called quakers, the most popular story is that the founder of the religion, George fox, once told a magistrate to tremble (quake) at the name of god and people started using the term quaker. Another story is that the name comes from the fact that quakers sometimes shook during religious practises.

What did the charity started by the Quakers do?
The charity was started to help promote peaceful relations with the Native Americans. In establishing this charity, the Quakers hoped to return to the Indian-European relations that had been established by William Penn. They were trying to make an example to Europeans and Indians to show how intercultural relationships could be conducted.

The market was mainly used for farmers and artisians trying to sell or trade their products. All the time, farmers would travel to market towns with a Conestoga, a big wagon used to carry all of the produce to market towns. They may also travel by boat, if necessary. Market towns contain shops where some artisans can trade with each other. Farmers may also set up stands to put their products on sale. Whatever you do, you need to make sure you are getting the goods other people in the Mid-Atlantic Colonies can't produce. At the end, you may have received some imported goods and materials you might have never had before.

They met in the market towns because it was the center of trade and that was where all the people would gather. The Mid Atlantic was a very social colony. They had lots of villages and cities. It was a very diverse lifestyle. They would have their own way of doing things. There were also very diverse religions. There were many people that were from different countries and places.
