Disconnect ventilator; deliver 100% O2.
Look closely for respiratory movements.
Measure Arterial Po2, PCo2 and PH after 10 min and reconnect the ventilator. If respiratory movements are absent and the arterial PCo2 >or 60mmHg, supports the diagnosis of brain death.
