Why do atoms become negatively or positively charged when they lose or gain electrons?
When atoms gain- the becomes negatively charged because they have more negatively charged particles and don't the the same amount of positively charged particles. When atoms lose- the become positively charged because they have more protons (the positively charged particle) than electrons.
