Notify your RA, HRA, and secure another RA from your community to pick up the duty phone on your behalf. Once you collect the duty phone, be sure to check in with the HRA on duty.

Common spaces--lounges, bathrooms, lobbies, stairwells, exterior and interior entrances.

What are some of the impacts if a duty report is inaccurate or submitted late?
HRA might have to stay up later trying to compile information, staff may not be made aware of issues/incidents that are happening

Who is responsible for ensuring work orders are submitted for any housekeeping or maintenance concerned identified while on duty?
RAs themselves. Additionally, the desk staff is trained in how to submit work orders through MPulse.

How do you go about switching duty?
All duty switches occur within your small staff and need to be communicated to the RD and HRA of the community. Once you find another colleague that is willing to switch duties, you must email the RD and HRA of the community with the duty switches.

When on duty, where are RAs on duty allowed to be?
Within your community on weekdays. On weekends, you are allowed a one-hour break on campus--must check in with HRA and duty partner.

It is one of the main purposes of why we ask RAs to do community walkthroughs, it shows that these interactions are happening, it helps establish some patterns for our community, it provides general updates on what is happening in our communities beyond just incidents or problems.

What happens when the university is closed due to inclement weather?
Closing of the university necessitates 24 hour duty. Therefore, the RAs and HRA on duty keep the phone and respond appropriately until the next duty team checks in.

When confronting a situation, what important steps should take?
Announce/introduce yourself, investigate what is occurring, determine if calling up is necessary, collect IDs from those involved, document important details throughout (i.e. timeline of events, who was involved, items involved, things people said)

What is one reason we ask RAs to complete a duty report?
It is a steady source of information about what is happening in our communities, it helps notify multiple staff members about potential issues that are happening, it helps to establish patterns, probably some other good answers work here as well
