I run across the entire width of Northern Africa. I am the largest desert in the world. I am covered with sand dunes, rolling rocky hills and wide streches of gravel that go on for miles and miles. Few people live in me, however, people travel through me by camel to caravan, jeeps to trucks regularly by day and night!

I am a large country in central Africa with a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean. I am rich in natural resources and have the added advantage of the Congo River as a route for transportation and commerce. In addition to my rainforests, I am also rich in mineral resourcesm including copper, cobalt, and diamonds. I have had a troubled history, both with European colonialism and later civil war. My political situation is unstable.

I'm found in parts of the world that are warm and humid and usually in an area near the earth's equator. Rich plant life and plentiful water allow thousands of different animals, fish and insects to live there.

I am South of the Saharah. I'm known for being a dry and semi-arid region that is slowly turning into a desert. Little rain ever touches this region. Because so many people have cut down my trees and have allowed animals to overgraze, the soil has become dry and has begun to blow away.

I am also a large Noth African country. I am located along the banks of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean coast. The Nile River runs the length of me and empties near my city, Alexandria. Cairo, my captial, is located along the Nile. I am mostly desert. Most of my people live along the Nile as well.

I am a period of little rainfall. Sahel knows all about me as I have hurt that area in the past. People who live during me, often face starvation and poverty. Many people move into urban areas to get away from me to find work, but most find more poverty. In recent years, the United Nations and the World Food Bank have come to the aid of those living in parts of the Sahel when I'm around.

We've been living in the Sahara for centuries. We are nomadic, therefore, we are always moving. Our name means, "free men." Unfortunately, it is becoming harder to make a living in traditional ways, so many of us have settled down to live in small villages and towns where we can find steady work.

This means that those species no longer exist anywhere in the world. Destruction of forests contributes to soil erosion and desertification that can in turn contribute to me.

You will find me in the middle of Africa, close to the equator. I am the grasslands, known for my tropical habitats. You will find many animals here that are associated with Africa. Animals like lions, elephants, and many other species. If you are a farmer, live here. My soil is good when the rains come! However, if there is a lack of rainfall, life as a farmer will be difficult.

You can find me along the eastern coast of Africa, bordering the Indian Ocean. I am famous for my magnificent animal parks and rich savanna grasslands. My national slogan is "Harambee," which is a Swahili word that means people need to "work together."

I am the process of the desert expanding into areas that had formerly been farmland. As the land is overused, the soil becomes poor and powdery. As the desert expands, people are less able to grow enough food to feed them. People living in the areas that go through this process face hunger and hardship.

I flow through Central and West Africa, through the largest rainforest in Africa and second largest rainforest in the world. I begin in Central Africa near Lake Tanganyika (which is one of the largest and deepest freshwater lakes in the world.)

You have to look at the bottom of Africa to find me! I'm at the southern-most tip. I'm mostly fills with broad plateaus with large streches of grasslands. These are home to many animals such as:lions, elephants, giraffes, and leopards. You can find the Kalahari Desert right above me!

I am the longest river in the world! I begin in the central mountains of Africa. I have two parts, the White and the Blue. As the river flows, and stretch over 4,000 miles until I reach the Mediterranean Sea at Alexandria, Egypt.

I am a large nation filled with nearly every kind of habitat found in Africa. The north is close to the Sahara and is rocky. My coastland is rich in oil, though problems and corruption in the government have meant the Nigerian people enjoy few benefits from their country's oil wealth.

I am the largest savanna in the world. I cover almost half of Africa. During the winter dry season, the grass turns brown and grass fires occur. These fires are part of the natural cycle of life in the savanna.
