This type of straight wire is used to connect a host and a switch together.
What is a Straight-Through cable.
It is important to understand that with Ethernet networks and devices, there are four pair or eight wires in a cable. only 1, 2, 3 and 6 are used for transmit and receive (Respectively) and that there are different types of cables we use to connect the different devices which we we use.
To connect switches together, you need a crossover cable because each switch's send and receive pairs are the same and the crossover cable crosses those so that the transmit circuit is talking to the receive circuit on the other device.
When connecting a computer to a switch, you'd need a straight-through cable so that the transmit wires are talking to the receive wires on the other device.
