What are the correct steps in applying an Epi-pen correctly?
Step 1: follow the instructions. Hold it in your fist and avoid contact with either end (Through clothes or bare skin!) Step 2: Take off the safety cap Step 3: Press the tip hard against the thigh, halfway between the hip and knee Step 4: hold in place for 10 seconds Step 5: Pull the pen straight out, do not put fingers over injection end! Step 6: one person should rub the injection spot for 10 seconds Step 7: Note the time and give the pen to emergency responders Step 8: Call 9-1-1 if they do not get better. A second dose may be needed
