Are students required to join the Greenheart club?
Only grants students are required to join the club, but every student should be strongly encouraged to do so.

The top student will earn a $500 grant to do a Greenheart project in their home country and will also get to come to Chicago for the Winner's Weekend.

What is the first step to fulfilling a GH LC project?
Completing an online proposal form. Once you submit this Molly Friend will review it and either approve the project or ask for more clarification.

Where was Greenheart founded?
Laura and Emanuel first came into contact with Greenheart in Ibiza, Spain and then decided to incorporate it into CCI.

Why is it important to tell the Chicago office you completed a volunteer project?
LCs are doing great work and CCI wants to recognize them and share the news with everyone. Plus you can earn conference points and get reimbursed for any pre-approved funding.

What is fair trade?
Fair trade means that workers in developing countries are paid a living wage for the work and goods they are producing.

What is the deadline for the Greenheart essay contest and who is it open to?
The deadline for the essay contest is March 1, 2012 and it is open to any exchange student or American high school student in a school where a CCI student is placed.

How can you earn 2 full conference points for an LC GH project?
The project must have an educational component, include the high school, be partnered with a recognized group (Forestry Department, Red Cross), and must have at least 6 students.

What is an acceptable project idea for full points and funding for an LC GH project?
-Partnering with the Parks Service and going to help destroy an invasive species, including the high school's ecology club. The park ranger assists with the project and explains the importance to the students. Many right answers!

How do community service and cultural exchange align?
open-ended -By working together we can learn from each other -By bringing people from different backgrounds together to volunteer many barriers and cultural stereotypes can be broken -CCI host families are all volunteers and by encouraging students to volunteer continues to spread the spirit of volunteerism
