Economic characteristics effectively contributed the society to be civilized. For example, in Zhou dynasty, the coinage system was developed, and copper coins came into use as the money. This coinage system led its dynasty to be more active at international trade and brought introduction of copper. It made its dynasty to be more prosperous and to acknowledge new cultures.

One of the characteristics that led societies to be civilized is the legal system. Write the reason why legal system made the societies to be civilized with specific examples.

Societies with better regulated legal system were considered as civilized. Well regulated legal system led social issues to be worked smoothly and made society more prosperous. For example, one of the river civilizations' countries, Babylonian had a legal system, called law of Hammurabi, has 'an eye for an eye' as its main idea. Babylonian could maintain the peaceful society from Hammurabi's law and active trades.

Assyrian had a great army system. They trained their soldiers professionally and used chariots, which is the vehicle the others had never tried. Jared Diamond claimed that geographic variables and development of technology rather than cultural majority led Europeans and Asians to conquer the indigenous people. Geographic variables provide the access to resources, it made society to be more civilized. Development of technology produced stronger, more powerful weapons, which made their armies stronger to be able to defeat the others.
