Chemicals that travel through the synapse and bind with receptors
What are neurotransmitters?
Thin round holes that assist in gas exchange
What are capillaries?
A place where 2 or more bones meet to allow movement
What is a joint?
A part of the body situated closer to the feet than another
What is inferior?
Muscle that makes the heart pump
What is Cardiac Muscle?
Potassium channels open causing the cell interior to be negatively charged
What is repolarization?
Largest artery in the body which carries oxygen-rich blood to the rest of the body
What is the Aorta?
Tissue that surrounds an organ surface to protect it
What is epithelial tissue?
The middle of the body or body part
What is medial?
Lines along the muscle to show the direction it's pulling
What are striations?
Sodium channels open, causing positively charged sodium ions into the cell
What is depolarization?
Pressure in arteries when the heart is at rest
What is diastolic Pressure?
Regulates the body's energy and transports glucose to the liver
What is insulin?
Relating to the side of the body or body part
What is Lateral?
Fuel for muscle contraction which energizes myosin heads so they can attach to the actin
What is ATP?
Drug mechanism that binds and blocks receptors
What is Antagonist?
The natural pacemaker of the heart
What is the SA node?
The Adams apple, also known as the voice box
