What is the difference between selected experiences, meaningful experiences, and the impactful experience?
Applicants may include up to 10 selected experiences that communicate who they are, what they are passionate about, and what is most important to them. For each of these 10 experiences, applicants include information such as the type of experience, setting, primary focus, key characteristic, and their roles and responsibilities.
After saving up to 10 selected experiences, applicants identify three of their selected experiences that they found most meaningful. For each of those three meaningful experiences, applicants can provide an additional reflection of up to 300 characters to explain why the experience was so meaningful and how it influenced them.
The impactful experience is an additional experience that is not included in the 10 selected experiences. It is meant to be used if an applicant faced any significant challenges or hardships that influenced their journey to residency. This can include experiences relating to family background, financial background, community setting, educational experiences, and/or general life experiences. Programs do not expect all applicants to complete the impactful experience section. The impactful experience is intended for applicants who have overcome major challenges or obstacles. Some applicants may not have experiences that are relevant to this question. Other applicants may not feel comfortable sharing personal information in their application.

No, only the applicant's most recently certified and submitted application and LoRs can be imported into the applicant's current season application.

I mistakenly uploaded the wrong letter for an applicant or would like to retract a letter. What should I do?
Once a LoR has been uploaded for an applicant, it cannot be modified or removed. To make a correction, you must upload a revised version of the LoR using the instructions under Uploading a New Version of an Existing LoR section of the user guide. Programs will only be able to view the most recent version of the LoR, but LoR Authors will be able to view all versions. To retract a letter, upload a new blank version in place of your previous version.
Should Standardized Forms/Letters of Evaluations be handled differently than narrative LoRs?
Some programs may request a standardized form/letter in addition to or instead of a narrative letter. These are still considered LoRs and should be handled in the same fashion as stand-alone narrative LoRs. You will still need to enter and confirm the LoR information in the MyERAS system and provide the LoR Author with a Letter Request Form.
If the standardized form/letter is requested in addition to the narrative letter, both documents should be uploaded as one single PDF file. Otherwise, the standardized form/letter should be uploaded alone. These instructions are included in the Letter Request Form for the LoR Author.

Can you share identifying information with a user calling in? For example, if a user asks for their AAMC ID or their username?
No, you can direct them to aamc.org. After signing in, they can click on their name and click on "My Account" to locate their AAMC ID.
If a user is requesting their username, we verify their information in SAM and reset their password. In this process, we can include their username as separate email sent when sending the user their temporary password. Alternatively, we can let them know that they can select "Forgot Username" on at aamc.org when signing in
