What is Physical Abuse?
An individual appears to be in pain after leaving an area where they were alone with staff person/peer
What is the sign of potential abuse?
A staff person loses visual contact with an individual who requires "enhanced supervision"
What is abuse?
We should speak to all people this way
What is speaking politely?
Assuming an individual is not injured after a fall
What is Neglect?
A staff person with a quick temper and impulsive behaviors may indicate this.
What is the sign of a potentially abusive staff person?
An individual is using his cell phone during his group session, and a staff asks to hold the phone till group is over.
What is not abuse?
We should avoid doing this when communicating with individuals.
What is speaking negatively?
Name Calling
What is Psychological Abuse?
This is a service available to employees who may have problems with their health or stress
What is EAS?
A staff person who grabs a sandwich from an individual and throws it in the trash because it not a food item on their diet
What is abuse?
We should be doing this instead of making demand of individuals
What is to encourage individuals to ask questions?
An individual has a BSP but it is not being followed
What is mistreatment?
Abuse should be reported immediately to a supervisor or this person
Who is the PRS Duty Officer?
A father is yelling at his son and you hear a slapping noise. The individual comes to you and says his father hit him.
What is Abuse
We should not continually do things for an individual but do this instead
What is encourage individuals to do as much as possible for themselves?
A staff person refuses to take an individual to church & says that he is too busy.
What is a Violation of Civil Rights?
Individuals who live at the NLDC are to be kept free of harm resulting from these 3 things
What is abuse, neglect or SIB?
An individual was supposed to go to a movie, but the staff apologizes and says that she forgot she needs to shop for dinner and will take him to a later movie that day.
What is not Abuse?
If you disagree with an individual's choice or point of view you should not allow this to be affected
