What is MP's should use this note type when donor experiences a reaction DURING their donation.
When handling a donor reaction, you may want to cry out to your mom for help, but instead, these are the times you would call for an MP.
What are 1) when symptoms don't resolve after 10 minutes OR get worse 2) LOC 3) vomiting 4) any severe signs/symptoms
Stress, anxiety, pain, hunger…or just realizing there’s a needle nearby can cause dizziness, chills, pale skin, feeling of warmth, sweat, weakness, visual and auditory disturbance, abdominal cramps, headache, nausea.
What are MILD symptoms of a hypotensive OR vasovagal reaction?
* these are most common types of reactions during donation
This is done to New Donor when phlebotomy is performed, but underdraw or zero volume occurs, regardless of fault or issue.
What is paying the donor in full?
You don’t need this when the donor’s ID and their address are besties.

This must be applied if the donor cannot donate due to vein issues after completing screening and physical.

*must have all 6 items to obtain points!
When donor has donated more that 200ml and he has to use the restroom, so we end the donation early, he gets what he deserves!
What is not to exceed $25?
Management to access.
Underdraw with at least 1ml collected.
What is Saline Event?
When applying this MIR, the RBCs remaining in NexSys PCS should NOT be returned to donor.
What is moderate/severe Citrate reaction.
This must be added if phlebotomy is performed, and no plasma is collected.
What is a payment adjustment?
You've pulled your donor out of the pit of despair; this is required to continue the donation ride.
i.e: After a reaction, this must happen in order to continue the donation.
What is symptoms last less than 10 minutes AND donor feels fine AND donor wants to continue?
When the donor fights through the impossible, faces the re-stick, and still gives you that sweet plasma, just not all of it.
What is Full pay?
* plasma collected must be 1ml or greater.
When you are a no call no show for 3 shifts in a row.
What is Job Abandonment?
“Similar, But Not the Same” If a donor is anxious and shows signs of low calcium and their blood pressure takes a nosedive, classify the reaction as this.
What is a Hypotensive event?
Every time a payment gets adjusted, this should always be entered.
What is a detailed comment?
When a donor says, “My lips are tingling like I kissed a 9-volt battery,” this is the very first thing you should do.
What is reduce the NexSys PCS pump speed and monitor the donor closely?

When there’s no plasma, but you’ve still got to pay them something, because life happens and so do troublesome needle moments.

The donor is breathing like they just saw their ex, swears their lips are tingling, but it turns out they’re just anxious. According to SOP, you log it under this reaction type.
What is Hyperventilation?
Management of initial onset of mild signs and symptoms of Citrate reaction.

What are MODERATE symptoms of a sodium citrate reaction?
*most likely to occur during a RETURN cycle
When there's an atypical donation because the machine messes up, or the phleb does...but no fault of the donor.
