"A lot of people believe that stricter alcohol laws will help fix some of the United States’ problems with alcohol abuse: drunk driving, underage drinking, and alcoholism, to name a few. I believe that no matter what the laws are, the US will struggle with alcohol abuse until as a society we choose to change the importance of alcohol in our culture. Other cultures have lower or no drinking ages, and yet alcoholism is not as rampant in their communities. The way we glorify the use of alcohol on TV, in music, in movies, and within our own family and friend groups creates an atmosphere of alcohol use that leads to irresponsible behavior, poor health, and deadly consequences."
