What is consent and what are the three types of consent? (explain them)
Consent is required from every conscious, mentally competent adult before care can begin.
Three types:
I. Expressed: The patient expressly authorizes the health care provider to provide health care, patient must be of legal age to give expressed consent.
II. Implied consent: Consent is assumed from the unconscious patient requiring emergency help, Patient must be of legal age, and they must be informed of all related risks, benefits and alternatives.
III. Informed consent: Telling the patient what medical procedures will be performed, the expected outcomes, and the possible complications.
