Describe how exploring new waterways in the New World led to Europeans setting up trading posts.

Waterways were important for trading beaver furs because they were like highways for boats and canoes. Traders could easily travel up and down rivers and lakes to reach different trading posts.   

Waterways were also home to beavers. Traders would travel along these waterways to collect beaver furs from Native Americans and bring them back to Europe to sell.
