What are medications no longer used for women during pregnancy?  Thalidomide was used for morning sickness in late 1950s.  Discovered to cause sever birth defects in thousands of children (1961).  Scopolamine was used as "twilight sleep" during labor (early 1900's-1970's).  Found to increase length of labor, use of forceps, and higher risk of infant suffocation.  Alcohol was used to delay preterm labor.  Not shown to delay labor. Concern for side effect to mother and infant.
