What is the goal of crime scene processing?
To be able to accurately and without bias recreate the scene as it existed at the time the evidence was seized and to reconstruct or recreate the harmful event at a later point in time.
How are crime scene requests prioritize?
Higher priority calls to include serious injuries, deaths, and crime scene preservations are assigned first.
What is CODIS (Combined DNA Index System)?
Electronic database that stores the profiles of legally submitted individuals. Network of local, regional, and national systems that can be searched against profiles developed from samples obtained at scenes.
What is Chain of Custody?
Process used to maintain and document the chronological history of items of evidence. Ensures evidence is secure and unbroken. Failure to maintain may render evidence inadmissible and useless.

Any item that tends to prove or disprove a point or fact in question.

Section responsible for handling, processing, safe storage, and final disposition of seized, found, or surrendered property.
What is segregation of property?
Practice of separating different categories of property (controlled substances, firearms, biological evidence).
