These are the goals targeted to increase
Skill Acquisition
Behavior Reduction
I'm teaching a client to tie his shoe. I show him a video to aid in teaching this skill.
Video Modeling
These are two types of communication systems.
PECS and AAC device
All clients have circle at 930, table at 945, etc.
Session schedule
This is what you should do with the client throughout the entire session
Pairing
This is when you have a written agreement of behaviors to engage in and not engage in with the parent, client, and RBT.
Behavior Contract
I give my client the instruction "First circle, then iPad"
Premack Principle
This is teaching skills while the client is playing, such as telling them "youre going down the slide!"
Natural environment teaching
I am teaching my client to mand "more" instead of engaging in maladaptive behavior
Functional Communication Training
Mand Training
This is when you provide multiple easy tasks before presenting a difficult task
Behavioral Momentum
My client engages in screaming behavior to get attention. When he screams, I look away and do not pay attention to it.
Planned Ignoring
The BCBA broke toothbrushing up into multiple steps in order to teach it.
Task Analysis
I prepare my client for a transition 5 minutes before it occurs
Priming
These are examples of a client measuring/monitoring their own behaviors.
Self Management
Self monitoring
Prior to my client arriving, I set up the environment so he would have his favorite toys and edibles present at the table before I set a demand.
Antecedent Manipulation
When my client engaged in negative behavior, I redirected him to the current activity.
Redirection
Sarah engages in shouting out behavior after her teacher poses a question to the class. Her teacher decides to use a DRA procedure in which Sarah is only reinforced (ex. called on) for raising her hand to answer a question.
In order to have my client choose between red and blue (I want them to choose red) I make the red card bigger than the blue.
Stimulus Prompts
Giving the child a bowl of cereal with no spoon.
Contriving MOs
I played in the kitchen with my client, pretending to cook a pizza in the oven and provided several learning opportunities throughout.
Role Play
A child screams in the car when they want to hear the radio played. The adult previously used to plead and attempt to coax the child. Now I dont provide any attention to it.
Extinction
A teacher places a child on his or her lap during group instruction such that the child has no motivation to seek the teacher’s attention while the teacher is conducting story time with the class.
To teach a client to say "ball" I start with "b" then "ba" then "ball"
Shaping
A child makes a meaningful attempt to request a stuffed animal, the reward is the stuffed animal – not a candy or other unrelated reward. Children are rewarded for making a good attempt, even if it is not perfect.
